All of the "savings per month" is based on a 3 year save-up period. This is no longer a hobby, but a dead serious shot at a career in wildlife photography. I'm fed up with playing it safe and I'm going for it. I'm getting the equipment in 3 years time.

  1. Tough choice to make, but if you want to make a career of it, go big or go home. If it were me, I would likely go for option 1, but modified. I would replace the 200-400 (which apparently is rather poor for use on distant subjects), with the 300mm F2.8, for low light shooting. You could always have both of them ready to go with two cameras bodies, for different shooting distances as well.
